About Us

Why use the door if you can look in the window?

Window Museum was created in 2015, and was based originally in Harlem, New York City. Window Museum is an alternative space and archive that occupies commercial empty shops where the public and passersby are invited to observe art through a window and enter to access an archive of multimedia art, performance, mailart and games.

In 2020, when the World Health Organization announced that the COVID-19 outbreak could be characterized as a pandemic, Window Museum moved to Porto, Portugal. In these uncertain times, Window Museum is designed to maintain our health and security during this time of pandemic. Patrons are invited to observe art through a window from a safe and comfortable distance.

Archives can only be accessed virtually.
