BIO

Anna Berndtson is a Swedish performance artist working foremost with Long Duration Live Performance Art. The foundation of her practice is anchored in the presence of both the artist and the public. She confronts and transgresses boundaries whilst keeping her body and her own perception at the centre of her work. Anna continually revise her working methods and frequently utilises new resources as a means of keeping her focus on what is essential. Through the long duration of the performance, she extends her physical presence in the space, creating an ephemeral and authentic experience captured in her actions, which in turn creates a lasting image and constitutes the work. Focus, discipline, humour and aesthetics are the fundamentals in all her performances, videos, photographs, etc. Apart from her solo work Anna Berndtson works in numerous collaborations with other artist and in groups. Since 2003 Anna Berndtson and Irina Runge have worked together in the Performance-Duo TBL (TallBlondLadies).
